Takes the pain
PERCULINE nucleo is the universal instrument set for percutaneous nucleoplasty utilizing 4 MHz radiofrequency energy application in therapeutic pain interventions in the lumbar spine.
The primary therapeutic goal of nucleoplasty is decompression of nerve structures through volume reduction of the vertebral disk by means of radiofrequency ablation and mechanical removal of nuclear material with rongeurs.
The reusable instrument set is used to create a percutaneous access port to the vertebral disk, for preparation and removal of tissue using manual instruments, and for coagulation, tissue reduction, and ablation by means of radiofrequency energy.
Lumbar Disc Nucleoplasty
While rongeurs are used to remove the material directly from the vertebral disk, the application of radiofrequency energy with bipolar TipControl instruments acts to both ablate the tissue of the vertebral disk (volume reduction) and to disrupt the small nerve fibers at the fibrous ring of the vertebral disk. The spinal nerves are therefore indirectly decompressed and the disruption of the nerve fibers prevents conduction of pain signals to the brain.
Innovative principles for effective nucleoplasty
Multi-functional options:
Spinal Decompression
Disc volume reduction
- by manual mechanical resection
- by RF application
Denervation of the annulus structures
Endoscopic visualization for verification and documentation
Continuous irrigation flow for precise coagulation and cooling of the surrounding tissue
Re-usable instrument set
Therapeutic Concept
The centerpiece of effective tissue-preserving coagulation is the CURIS® radiofrequency generator with a working frequency of 4 MHz. In combination with the actively articulating TipControl RF Electrode, the precise positioning of the radiofrequency energy in the tissue is guaranteed.
